Is eves dropping illegal? Who said it?

I am from India and make international calls to my family. I have no problems if a NSA agent eves drop on my call and listens to what I say. If this action makes me and my family in United States and outside safer I should infact be more appreciative. Infact I commend and salute George Bush and his government to be not a reactionary government. I like his proactive actions and him making the safety of his people his top priority. As someone living in US - American or non; why should we be concerned if Bush engaged a judicial branch to order terrorist surveillance? Even if he did, would he have told the rest of the country about it? I guess not. All it matters to us is if his actions were in good faith. I am from India - world's largest democracy and I know what civil liberties mean. But when it comes to the pertinent danger, you got to do what you got to do. I wish I had a voting right in US otherwise Bush would have gotten one more.

Eclipse vs Netbeans

No I am not writing any big technical comparison, enough is written already. I have always been a fan of netbeans - simple and elegant. I have been using (or asked to use sortta) eclipse for past few months. Good must say. Easy to configure the debugger specially the web applications and also lots of industry support. What I like about netbeans is its' simplicity in creating new projects. Easy to add (mount) jars in the classpath. Its all possible in eclipse too but netbeans wins in usability in this area though. The problem with netbeans is somehow the companies are not relating it with the opensource industry. If everything is opensourced then the IDE must be eclipse - certainly not the right frame of understanding but buoy its true. Netbeans5 is a big thing, yes I liked it and hope it wins or atleast changes it's perception.

Will you buy a free product?

A legitimate question isn't it? A free product with good manuals with the confidence of can do it, and why would I pay for any services? Unless the companies revisit their cost structure, with google as the unlimited source of manuals foundations like Apache or jBoss or logicBlaze are going to kill them. Can you hear this song already? "Get up stand up, Stand up for your right!"

A tale of $20 bill

I usually don't keep any cash with me but withdrew $20s from the bank's ATM to pay for a few things. While at work I tried to pay my lunch by cash but oooph! my $20 bill was missing. I must have dropped it somewhere while taking out my keys. Damn! I thought. I didn't pay for my drinks in the evening either which I had with my friend at a local coffee place. I felt bad and was so missing my $20 bill. I searched my house if I had dropped it somewhere but to no avail. If I had dropped it outside it was too windy to find it, I thought. BTW, in my regular hush-hush to work today I found it right infront of my door. I usually go through my other door but today I took the main gate as if my $20 was as missing me as much as I was.

Churchill was insanely stupid

Read the new revelation that Churcill wanted Gandhi to be starved to death if he had gone to hunger strike on the issue of WWII. I always thought Churchill to be a hero of the WWII but this story proves he was insanely stupid. Churchill was pursuaded to not to do it coz the then British administration didn't want Gandhi to die a martyr. Now I have nothing to say on it coz history is infront of all of us. I couldn't believe Churchill to be that blind to under estimate Gandhi's affect and his aura. In the country of hundreds of religious beliefs Gandhi was one figure who was close to the sainthood and not just for one community. And BTW, Gandhi did not go on a hunger strike on the issue of WWII and later asked Indian forces to instead assist the British army. Wasn't that a political slap on Churchil's face?
